Playing Catch-up

23 June, 2019

I apologize for the long absence, I have been very busy these last few weeks with field work. It’s hard to get everything done that needs to be when you only get one day off. Not all of the pictures in this post are from the past week, but may be from anytime in the past few weeks that I have missed. I hope that you enjoy.

Pictures

Kansas storm clouds
Yellow Salsify, looks sort of like a giant Dandelion and makes giant puffs of seed-heads that are similar as well
A Meadowlark nest very much depredated by Brown-headed Cowbirds
Musk Thistle, this one was more than a meter tall, but they can be even taller
Wavy Leaf Thistle that had attracted a Delaware Skipper
Mourning Dove nestlings
Rowdy and Riley, the Dickcissel twins. These two are believed to have fledged.
Great Plains Toad
My first Eastern Kingbird nest. Probably my favorite eggs.
Ornate Box Turtle
A Crawfish that we caught in a small stream that has been washing out the road
